Le Moulin Noye
This hotel is one of the
nicest in the Gueret area Situated just eight kilometres north of the
town on the D940
near Glenic, it lies almost on the river Creuse
amidst the trees and out of sight from
the main road. The hotel offers spacious bedrooms
with all the usual comforts, mini bar, hair dryer,
telephone etc. and the price starts
from 44€ for a single room. In the summer
you can sit on the terrace or swim in the open
air pool, or, for the more adventurous there
are mountain bikes for hire. The restaurant overlooks
the river and the sophisticated menu varies from
season to season, but, as you
would expect, always has a good variety of seafood,
along with all the other gastronomic delights
of the region. Prices start from 14€ and evening
meals from 54.90€. The restaurant is closed on
Sunday evenings out of
season and at other times it’s worth
booking in advance.

Les Touristes
Just five kilometres from
Gueret in the direction of Aubusson
This restaurant is famed for it’s very agreeable ambiance and
mouth watering menus. Owned by Michel Roux, prices
start at 15€ with reasonably priced wines and good
service. Whilst in the village
why not visit the seventeenth century chateau
and the thirteenth century church or the wolf park
at Chabrieres.

Auberge De Pays
An authentic country
auberge. The dining room is friendly with a huge
log fire in the winter and views all over the
garden and the countryside. A warm welcome greets
you from the owner Cathy
and her daughter Gail and the menus start from
9.15€ for the
midday meal, wine included,
to 14€ in the evening. The children’s menu is 6.50€.
In the summer, lunch is a buffet served in the
garden, but you need to book before hand as
it is very popular.

Set in very tranquil surroundings
this auberge caters for receptions, marriages and banquets but for
a very reasonably priced lunch or evening
meal it’s hard to beat The food is well presented, tastes delicious
and if you want, make a day of it and use the
swimming pool or tennis courts in the gardens while you are there.

Auberge A L’Escargot
A very popular, high class restaurant in the lovely
old town of La Chatre. Claudine and Jean Pierre
Miton are the owners and Jean Pierre is also the
Chef de Cuisine. If you are looking
for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion
why not try L’Escargot. The food is superb with several menus
to choose from but don’t
forget to leave room for the “gateau de chocolat” which
is unforgettable! Booking
